A young couple moved into a new neighborhood. One morning while they were eating breakfast the young woman saw her neighbor hanging the wash outside.

"That laundry is not very clean", she said. "She doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap." Her husband looked on, but remained silent.

Every time her neighbor would hang her wash to dry, the young woman would make the same comments. About one month later the woman was surprised to see a nice clean wash on the line and said to her husband, “Look! She has learned how to wash correctly. I wonder who taught her this?”

The husband said, “I got up early this morning and Cleaned our windows.”

And so it is with life; what we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look!

In every station new trials and troubles
call for more grace than I can afford
where can I go, but to my dear Savior
for mercy that pours from boundless stores.

Grace upon grace every sin repaired
every void restored, you will find him there
in every turning he will prepare you
with grace upon grace.

He made a way for the fallen to rise
perfect in glory and sacrifice
in sweet communion, my need he supplies
He saves, keeps, and guards my life.

To thee I run now with great expectation,
to honor you with trust like a child
My hopes and desires seek a new destination
and all that you ask, your grace will provide.

Loved seeing this on my way home tonight!

Mycah Layug: To Love or To Lust? ›

simplymyca:

Love is one of the misused words in our vocabulary. In effect its real meaning has become vague. Saying “I love you” and “I love pizza” seems to be same to many.

Could it be that we treat people as pizzas?

To love, real love or agape is to give oneself to the other for the sake of the other….

Bless the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me bless His holy Name.
Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget none of His benefits.
Who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns your life with loving kindness, who satisfies your longings with good things and renews your life like the eagle.
Bless the Lord oh my soul!

Psalm 103:1-5

Anonymous asked: What does it really mean to have the eyes of Christ?

To have the eyes of Christ means your eyes are set on the eternal goals of the Father, not the hopeless schemes of man. It means sharing in His vision for His people, and having a passion to lead them Home.

I want the world to know about the God who saved me.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

The average CHRISTIAN: spends less than 10 minutes each day with the God of the universe, the truest friend, the savior of the world, the creator of time. That’s less than 6 hours per month. Less than 3 days per year. Less than 7 months in a lifetime. Convicting much?

The art of denying myself: What worries me is that so many people who call themselves Christians... ›

collywollykinz:

What worries me is that so many people who call themselves Christians have built a system of beliefs that is not based in Scripture because they have spent their whole lives being taught by people who also were not very well read in Scripture, so we hold these beliefs and if we were to test them under the weight of Scripture, they would shatter in a heartbeat.  The problem with this is that we don’t see the need to test them, because we were taught these beliefs in church, so “they can’t be wrong… right?”  The unfortunate truth is that most of the American church is entirely wrong, and most doctrine is based on a flawed system of logic and reasoning instead of the Creator of logic and reasoning.

I know this, because I was one of those people for so long.  It was not until I began studying Scripture seriously until I realized how off my views have been this entire time.  Now I was raised in the church, but I did not become a Christian until I was 18 years old.  I lived the first 18 years of my life under moralism, and the Lord is still healing the damage done to my mind and soul from that.  But the point I am trying to get at is this:  You need to study Scripture.  You need to test what you know about God and what you believe about God against Scripture, and if what you believe doesn’t add up with Scripture, then what you believe is wrong.  And I am not talking explicitly to people who haven’t studied the Word, I am also talking to believers who have done extensive studies of the Word.  Please don’t believe what you believe because that is what you have always been taught your whole life.  Believe what you believe because it is what God has revealed in His word.

Peace and love,

Colin
